Three days after Obafemi Awolowo University resumed its activities for a new session, with the fresh students making preparations for their  educational pursuit, School excos drafting their agenda for the new session to better serve the student populace, was in motion when the unexpected happened.

In the early hours of Tuesday, the 2nd of May, 2017 at Fajuyi Hall, a 300L of  the Medical Rehabilitation department of the esteemed institution, identified as Oni-kayode Olakunle was caught in the act by his roommate while  stealing an Infinix phone.

An alarm was raised by his roommate, which drew the attention of the hall EXCOs,the hostel security committee and a few students to reprimand him.

Olakunle, the said culprit was caught as was trying to make away with the stolen phone and was dragged to the committee’s office to answer some questions as to what he was doing in school because freshers were the only students mandated to be in school as well as some graduates who were still putting their projects in order and new excos preparing for their activities for the new session. Olakunle, when asked, replied thus “I was waiting in school to see my part 2 exam result to know if I will resit for any of my papers”.

Following a general rule in Oau,  which states that any student caught stealing will  be paraded and publicly disgraced, he was paraded round the school hostels and was thoroughly beaten by students, to serve as a lesson to others who are in the habit of theft to withdraw from those acts.
