ABSTRACT

Corruption is in different forms and shapes. It has been recognized as a major problem which hitherto has affected our quest for a truly developed country where resources are harnessed and geared towards making life better for the citizenry.

The Nigeria nation has undoubtedly been confronted with challenges of fighting it and attempts to rebrand her image in the committee of nations in the last twenty to thirty years with little or no result to show.

Hence, the attempt made in this paper is to re-examine the issue of corruption taking an overview of the root cause, identifying areas to beam the searchlight of anti-graft agencies and, need to fight the disease rather than treating symptoms as observed by stakeholders in recent time.

The paper x- rayed negative effects of this disease on national development and, in summary, proffered possible ways out towards having a better and changed nation where integrity, honesty and justice reigns.
