It was another great avenue on 8th April 2017 at LLCI ALAUSA, IKEJA LAGOS for Nigeria association of Agricultural science students (NAASS) of Nigeria universities to show their high level of academic brilliance in the field of agriculture. The Agricmedia conference and expo which had in attendance key speakers from financial institutions/Regulators( CBN, BANKS AND BOL e.tc) also had the various guest in Agricultural sectors from Kwara, Lagos, Oyo and Ogun States in attendance.
The keynote speech centered on the theme: Agriculture for sustainable economic diversification and growth. The quiz featured students from nine universities namely UNIPORT, UNILAG, EKSU, LAUTECH, FUTA, OAU, FUNAAB, LASPOTECH, and UNILORIN. In the first round of the quiz, in other to reduce the number of schools participating in the competition, Students were asked to write a comprehension within 15 minutes about the theme of the conference in which the best four emerged. OAU came first with 85 points, EKSU came second with 75 points, FUNAAB and LASPOTECH came third and forth with 65 points and 55 points respectively.
Other universities were knocked out. In the second round, the best four from the first round competed the quiz competition proper. Students were asked five questions each, each question carries 10 points.
At the end of the second round, EKSU had 40 points in all while FUNAAB and OAU had 30 points each, both were later taken round another quiz in which FUNAAB later came second by answering one more question whereby OAU missed theirs, and LASPOTECH came forth with 10 points. therefore, EKSU was represented in the competition by both Ajisafe Yinka of Crop, horticulture and landscape department and Falade Emmanuel Tosin of Agricultural Economics and Extension department in the Faculty of Agricultural Science EKSU.
EKSU students who emerged first went home with the prize of a hybrid solar infrastructure and a check of One hundred thousand naira(#100,000) only, the second(FUNAAB students) went home with One hundred thousand naira only while the third position (OAU students) got fifty thousand naira only(50,000).
